Northern Trust Names Joanne C. Stringer Managing Director of Washington D.C. Office
CHICAGO, June 23, 2011 —
Northern Trust, a leading provider of financial services for institutions, affluent individuals and families, announced today that Joanie Stringer has been appointed Managing Director of the Washington D.C. office, where she will lead the expansion of Personal Financial Services in this new market."Joanie has a unique set of business and leadership skills that make her the ideal choice for the role of managing director in Washington D.C," said Jeff Kauffman, President and CEO of Northern Trust's Personal Financial Services business in the Northeast Region and Managing Director, EMEA and APAC. "Joanie's more than 13 years of experience in the industry coupled with her proven track record will help us continue to serve our clients with distinction."
In her new role, Stringer will be responsible for the overall strategy and direction of Personal Financial Services in Washington D.C, and will lead a staff of approximately 20 people. Her focus will be on developing a strong team, sourcing new business and building the Northern Trust brand.
Throughout her career, Stringer has led a series of successful office openings for Northern Trust, both in the United States and abroad. Prior to being appointed Managing Director of Personal Financial Services in Washington D.C., Joanie was the Managing Director of the Stamford, Connecticut, PFS team. She previously served as the head of business development for the Nordic Region of Europe for Northern Trust's Corporate and Institutional Services. Stringer began her career in the Northern Trust GOLD Program working in equity and fixed income research, quantitative management and the Northern Funds family of mutual funds at corporate headquarters in Chicago. Stringer earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and an MBA with concentrations in finance, economics and entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago. She is also a CFA charter holder.
