In her new role, Stringer will be responsible for the overall strategy and direction of Personal Financial Services in Washington D.C, and will lead a staff of approximately 20 people. Her focus will be on developing a strong team, sourcing new business and building the Northern Trust brand.
Throughout her career, Stringer has led a series of successful office openings for Northern Trust, both in the United States and abroad. Prior to being appointed Managing Director of Personal Financial Services in Washington D.C., Joanie was the Managing Director of the Stamford, Connecticut, PFS team. She previously served as the head of business development for the Nordic Region of Europe for Northern Trust's Corporate and Institutional Services. Stringer began her career in the Northern Trust GOLD Program working in equity and fixed income research, quantitative management and the Northern Funds family of mutual funds at corporate headquarters in Chicago. Stringer earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and an MBA with concentrations in finance, economics and entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago. She is also a CFA charter holder.
