
Northern Trust (Nasdaq: NTRS) announced today that it awarded approximately $14 million in contributions to nonprofit organizations worldwide in 2011. The majority of funds were directed to social welfare initiatives that provide critical services to low and moderate income families, such as housing, food, education and health care. Additionally, Northern Trust employees contributed approximately 200,000 volunteer hours to nonprofit and non-governmental organizations across the globe.
