Robert P. Morgan is Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Northern Trust Alternatives Group, with management responsibility for the alternative asset investments areas of Northern Trust. He had previously been Director of Private Equity, a position he held since co-founding the Private Equity funds group in 2000, and an area in which he remains heavily involved.
Prior to joining Northern Trust, he worked as a Director at Frye-Louis Capital Advisors, LLC (FLCA), a Chicago-based private equity investment manager, and was responsible for all of the operations of FLCA, including the management of a private equity fund-of-funds. Prior to joining FLCA, Bob worked for Heller Financial, Inc. (Heller), a middle-market commercial finance company, which was later acquired by General Electric. Bob was a Senior Vice President at Heller and was responsible for its private equity programs. Within Heller, Bob held several roles, including positions in the Corporate Finance Group, Corporate Credit and Heller Equity Capital Corporation, Heller’s captive private equity fund. He has invested in over 100 private equity funds covering the buyout, venture capital, structured high yield, real estate and international markets. While at Heller, Bob also oversaw a direct equity co-investment program which totaled approximately 20 investments. Prior to attending business school, Bob worked for a commercial bank in North Carolina.
Bob sits on the board of the Illinois Venture Capital Association and several fund advisory boards. He received his B.A. in economics from Wake Forest University and an MBA from Emory University.
Bradley M. Dorchinecz is a Senior Vice President and the Director of the Private Equity Group at Northern Trust. He co-founded the Private Equity Group with Bob Morgan in 2001. He oversees all aspects of the investment process for both primary and secondary investments. This includes sourcing and analyzing venture capital and buyout partnership investment opportunities in the United States, Europe and Asia. He previously was an investment professional at Mercantile Capital Partners, a venture capital and growth equity fund located in Northbrook, Illinois. Prior to Mercantile, Bradley spent five years at Heller Financial (now a part of GE Capital), providing senior debt to middle market buyout funds.
Bradley is on the advisory boards for Trinity Ventures, Aleph Ventures, Cowboy Ventures and Sterling Partners. He speaks frequently at industry conferences, including Super Return, Venture Capital Journal's Venture Alpha, Buyouts Midwest, the Association for Corporate Growth Conference, and the European Venture Capital Association Middle Market Buyout Forum. Bradley graduated with High Honors from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign with a degree in finance and received his MBA with Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Kevin R. Kresnicka is a Vice President in the Private Equity Group. As private equity product manager, Kevin is responsible for fund legal and marketing materials, sales support, fund administration activities, and client reporting. Prior to joining Northern Trust in 2005, he was a Vice President for Banc of America Capital where he monitored existing private equity fund investments and evaluated, documented, and closed new fund investments. At the time of Kevin’s departure from Banc of America, the company had interests in over 1,000 private equity funds representing over $5 billion of aggregate exposure. Prior to Banc of America, Kevin was a part of William M. Mercer Investment Consulting, serving first as a Senior Analyst assisting institutional clients and then as a Research Consultant of investment managers. Before Mercer, he worked for Morningstar, serving first as a Mutual Fund Data Analyst and then as a Mutual Fund Editorial Analyst. Kevin started his career in the information center of the National Futures Association. Kevin received a BS in Foreign Service and a Certificate in Asian Studies from Georgetown University, and an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Nicholas W. Lawler is an Associate on Northern Trust's Private Equity Team. He is responsible for supporting the team with sourcing and underwriting primary and secondary investments in venture capital and leverage buyout funds. Prior to joining the Private Equity Team, Nick was a member of Northern's Global Opportunities in Leadership Development (GOLD) Program. He completed rotations in Equity Research, Private Wealth Management Strategy, Alternative Investments, and Quantitative Management. Before joining the GOLD Program, Nick was an Associate Portfolio Manager in Private Wealth Management, where he directly managed customized equity and fixed income portfolios and supported numerous Senior Portfolio Managers. He joined Northern Trust in 2008 as an Investment Associate. Nick earned his B.A. in Political Science from Boston College and was a member of the Men's Varsity Golf Team. He also serves as the North American Head of Northern Trust's Advancing Professionals Business Resource Council, and is a mentor for the Loyola Academy Leadership Development Program.
Robert D. DiCarlo joined Northern Trust Alternatives Group in 2011 as Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. Bob is responsible for implementing several infrastructure projects, and for positioning the group to achieve future growth in assets. Bob previously was with Aurora Investment Management, where he was responsible for all aspects of Aurora’s financial and performance reporting, and he also was involved in many of its systems and operational platforms.
Prior to Aurora, Bob worked at Deutsche Asset Management for nine years, and he has over 20 years of experience in the financial management area. Bob is a Certified Public Accountant (registered in Illinois), graduated from DePaul with a BS in Accounting, and received his MBA from the Kellogg School of Northwestern University.
Emily P. Fraser is a Vice President in the Private Equity Group. Emily is based in Northern Trust's London office, and is responsible for leading investments and maintaining relationships in our European portfolio. She rejoined the team in 2009 after having originally worked with the team from 2005-2008. Prior to returning, Emily worked at Adveq Management, a Swiss based private equity funds of funds, as one of the first team members in its New York office. At Adveq, Emily was focused on small market buyout and distressed funds located in the U.S. Emily graduated with a BA in History from Trinity College, during which time she also interned at Landmark Partners, a private equity fund-of-funds specializing in transactions in the secondary market.
Kevin T. Butts is an Associate on Northern Trust's Private Equity Team. Prior to joining the PE Team, Kevin worked in Northern's Corporate Banking Group for two years as a Credit Portfolio Manager. He was responsible for the underwriting and financial analysis responsibilities of a $1.2B portfolio comprised of 38 diversified industrial clients. Kevin came to Northern first as a summer intern in 2008, and post-undergrad on full-time basis via Northern's Global Opportunities in Leadership Development (GOLD) Program in 2009. While in the GOLD Program, he spent four month rotations in Credit Training, the Corporate Banking Group, Private Wealth Management in New York City, and the Investment Strategy Group. Kevin received his MBA with Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He earned a B.S. in Finance with Honors from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
Lisa J. Weitzman is an Associate in the Private Equity Group. She is responsible for manager due diligence and analysis, fundraising efforts, portfolio monitoring, and work related to custom accounts. Prior to joining Northern Trust, Lisa was an Analyst at Hildebrandt Baker Robbins Consulting (now HBR Consulting) where she advised legal firms and financial institutions on cost reduction strategies and implementation. She also worked for a team of financial advisors at MorganStanley SmithBarney, helping to develop marketing materials and investment guidelines. Lisa graduated from the College of Business Honors Program at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign with a BS in Finance and a Minor in Spanish.
