Senior Vice President & Country Manager, China
Michael Wu is the Country Manager for China based in Beijing. He is responsible for the oversight of the Beijing Branch and all Northern Trust's business activities in China. This includes managing client relationships and service deliverables, promoting our products and services in the local market, establishing and implementing our China business strategy to further position Northern Trust as a leading financial services provider.
Michael joined Northern Trust in May 2008. Prior to his current role, Michael spent 12 years with State Street in various roles spanning operations, project management and business development in the Asia Pacific region. His involvement in China's financial industry started in 2000 when he served as a panelist in the Foreign Experts Committee set up by the China Securities Regulatory Commission to advise on the launch of the country's open ended mutual funds. Wu set up State Street's Beijing Representative Office in May 2005 and served as its Chief Representative from May 2005 to August 2007. He was Head of Fund Services for North Asia from September 2007 until he joined Northern Trust.
Wu holds a B.Ec. degree from Macquarie University in Sydney Australia.
