Northern Trust held their Annual European Conference at London's Waldorf Hilton Hotel on Thursday 1 October to discuss some of the industry's most pressing issues. The programme featured keynote speakers and highly topical discussions centred around the theme: Back to Basics: A New Direction.

- David Blood of Generation Investment Management discussed current trends in sustainable investing
- Andrew Birkett of Babcock International Group shared ideas to address longevity risk
- Northern Trust partners took part in a panel discussion regarding trends in investment transparency, efficiency and liquidity and an introduction to the Retirement Solutions Practice
- Caroline McHugh, Founder and CEO of IDOLOGY, the art of being yourself at work
- The conference finished with a luncheon address by the broadcaster, Andrew Marr
