To help alternative investment managers better manage their liquidity and cash flow, Northern Trust Hedge Fund Services today announced that it has enhanced its suite of treasury services with the addition of a proprietary Cash Projection service. The service provides a flexible and comprehensive forecast of cash flows, allowing clients to monitor all upcoming cash activity and account balances.
“In today’s financial markets, fund professionals need timely and accurate cash balance information,” said Peter Sanchez, head of Northern Trust Hedge Fund Services. “We’re moving beyond beginning-of-day cash balance reports to offer tools that deliver real-time updates so clients can actively manage their liquidity and cash positions throughout the day.”
The service is designed to help firms aggregate and normalize cash balance information across counterparties and provide a holistic view of current and future cash positions calculated through a consistent methodology. The system also features the ability to view cash at multiple levels – from firm-wide down to transactional cash flow details.
Cash Projection features a user interface for real-time access to projection data. Static reporting can also be provided. Key features include:
• A single, consistent projection methodology to all holdings, promoting a more accurate view of cash activity regardless of where assets or balances are held.
• Multiple views of cash balances, including a cash ladder (net of daily activity), cash balances (net of beginning balances & activity) and transaction level details.
• A customizable dashboard that provides real-time views into current and forecasted balances as transactions are processed throughout the day.
• Transparency functionality that lets users drill down into the underlying transactions to identify the key drivers of cash flow requirements including:
o Trade activity across all financial products
o Cash dividends and corporate action events
o Intraday cash activity including transfers, collateral calls and expense payments.
The Hedge Fund Services team at Northern Trust consults with clients to customize views in order to effectively manage cash.
