Northern Trust Asset Management plans to offer more robust investment research and expand its relationship with broker-dealers owned by minorities, women, or people with disabilities by adding firms that provide equity research.
A Request for Information (RFI) was issued today to begin the process of selecting firms with equity research capabilities, which evolves from our long-standing relationships — through the minority brokerage program — with equity and fixed-income trading firms owned by minorities.
“Northern Trust Asset Management is among the first in the market with this kind of program, which builds mutually beneficial relationships with firms owned by women, minorities and people with disabilities,” said Chief Investment Officer Bob Browne, CFA.
Research underpins our forward-looking, historically aware investment approach and deep capital markets expertise that powers a comprehensive set of solutions. Our asset class capabilities range from passive and factor-based, to fundamental active and multi-manager.
Complete RFI responses must be sent to Northern Trust Asset Management on March 30, 2018, by 5 p.m. central time. We expect to complete the process in the second quarter. Broker-dealers will be evaluated based on requirements for quality and fit of equity research.
Northern Trust, ranked first by Forbes among America’s Best Employers for Diversity in 2018, is dedicated to strengthening long-term ties with minority-, women-, and disabled-owned broker-
dealers, including securities underwriting and participation in debt issuance. Our diversity commitment also includes the Emerging Managers Program, which invests approximately $2.4 billion with more than 25 emerging and minority-owned investment management firms through manager-of-managers programs.
