During her career, Susan has advised and financed privately-held owner-run companies in a broad range of industries, as well as their owners to build, retain and transition wealth. She also has a breadth of experience in leading high performing, collaborative teams, growing high impact P&L businesses, running large geographic markets, re-engineering businesses, as well as developing and implementing key performance metrics.
She is currently the National Director of Business Owner Services for Wealth Management at Northern Trust. The suite of customized capabilities include, and are not limited to: Succession Planning, Investment Banking Advisory Services, Family Business Trustee Services, Financial Planning, Family Education and Governance, Tax and Wealth Transfer Strategies, Management of Unique Wealth-Generation Assets Investment Management, Commercial Banking and Treasury Management.
She most recently served as the National Banking Practice Executive of Wealth Management.
Susan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a Master of Arts degree in Diplomacy and World Affairs from Occidental College, Los Angeles.
Susan is very involved in animal rescue with her husband. She enjoys: spending time with her family, both two and four legged, music, art, exercise, rowing and travel.
Susan’s expertise is in financing and advising privately held owner-run companies and their families. She places an emphasis on planning for building, retaining and transitioning wealth.
She has served on numerous boards over the past thirty years. Susan currently serves on the board of Northern Trust Corporation of California; as a Trustee of Occidental College, where she serves as Chair of the Board as well as the University of San Diego and as a board member of Rancho Coastal Humane Society.
She was most recently on the boards of Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles and the Geffen Playhouse. She is a member of Best Friends Animal Society, The Pacific Council on International Policy, The Beverly Hills and La Jolla Literary Societies, The California Yacht Club, The Trusteeship, Women Corporate Directors, the Junior League of San Diego, as well as both ZLAC and San Diego Rowing Clubs.
