James Byrd

James A. Byrd, Jr. is a Senior Vice President at The Northern Trust Company in Chicago. He serves as a Senior Managing Director in the Private Client Advisory Services Segment of Wealth Management. James leads a team of wealth management professionals that advise clients on banking, fiduciary and investment matters.

He previously worked as a Senior Trust Advisor Team Lead and is familiar with fiduciary standards, principles and applicable laws and regulations. James’ duties involved working with sophisticated estate plans, advising on legal matters and sensitive family situations.

James is an active professional and community contributor, holding membership in The Chicago Estate Planning Council and serving as a board member for Aurora University, The Brain Research Foundation, and Ignite Promise. In addition to his professional involvement, he volunteers at the Hessed House Shelter and actively participates in his church.

James earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Aurora University and later completed his MBA at Aurora University’s Dunham School of Business. He also furthered his professional education as a graduate of the American Bankers Association National Trust School.

He earned his Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers.
