Basil Abulhamayel
Chairman of the Board of Directors - Independent Non-executive board member

Basil Abulhamayel is the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Northern Trust Saudi Arabia, where he plays a pivotal role in guiding the company’s strategic vision and overseeing the governance of its operations, drawing on more than three decades of experience in financial leadership, executive management, and business development across major local and international institutions.
He's also the Chief Financial Officer of Bahri, where he oversees the financial management of the group and its subsidiaries, ensuring alignment between financial operations and the company’s short- and long-term strategic objectives.
Having spent 38 years at Saudi Aramco, Basil Abulhamayel is a seasoned executive leader with global management experience in a multicultural environment. He brings with him a strong background in finance, investment, strategic planning, negotiation and performance management.
During his career, Mr. Abulhamayel served as General Manager of New Business Development (NBD) at Saudi Aramco, leading partnerships, asset divestment, and monetization initiatives in support of the company’s strategic priorities. Prior to that, he was President & CEO of Aramco Americas, the U.S.-based subsidiary of Saudi Aramco, providing support services for Saudi Aramco in North America.
His governance experience includes serving on the boards and audit committees of several local and international entities, including joint ventures in refining, energy, and investment. He also held senior Saudi Aramco leadership roles in treasury, corporate finance, project finance, risk management, investment management, and enterprise-wide planning and budgeting. In addition, he was seconded to the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation as a Senior Finance Specialist and later served as Interim Chief Investment Officer for the KAUST endowment.
Mr. Abulhamayel holds an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin. He has also completed executive leadership programs, including the Tuck Executive Program at Dartmouth College.
