James DeSouza

As a Senior Portfolio Advisor for Northern Trust, James proactively advises his clients on investment strategies and the integration of investment advice into their overall wealth management plan. James is a highly experienced professional and can access a comprehensive, diverse set of strategies and investment products to design a portfolio that meets each client’s unique situation. On an ongoing basis, he also draws on Northern Trust’s deep resources and market knowledge to uncover investment opportunities that fit their portfolio strategy.

James has more than 15 years of experience in the investment management field. Prior to joining Northern Trust, James was a Senior Portfolio Strategist for Key Private Bank. Additionally James was an Associate Investment Advisor at Hawthorn, PNC Family Wealth, the multi-family office division of PNC Bank. There he was responsible for supporting senior investment advisors with investment policy formation, asset allocation, and secondary manager research/due diligence as well as co-managing ultra-high net worth client portfolios. James has worked as a global treasury and hedging manager for a multinational corporation. There he managed the corporate hedging programs including Gold, FX, and interest rate derivatives and was a member of the corporate cash management team, which was responsible for consolidating corporate operating cash, providing loans to subsidiary companies, investing excess working capital and monitoring debt facilities.

James earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in International Business from Cleveland State University and completed Yale School of Management’s Investment Management Theory & Practice program

James earned the Investment Foundations certificate, a continuing education program and exam through the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute.
