Food Rescue US

Targeting hunger and food waste, Food Rescue US engages volunteers and food donors via an app that transfers excess food to social service agencies, who in turn deliver it to families struggling to eat. This not only feeds the hunger but also addresses climate change by keeping food out of landfills. With the generosity of Northern Trust, Food Rescue US redirected 200,000 meals to the most vulnerable and prevented 240,000 pounds of surplus food from being wasted, helping to tackle the surge in food insecurity caused by growing geopolitical pressures.

Whitechapel Mission

Since 1876, Whitechapel Mission has been helping homeless people by meeting the needs of every person who walks in, regardless of their circumstances. Their team serves those experiencing poverty, hopelessness, and dependency, setting them on a path to transform their own lives by rebuilding a sense of trust and belonging. Serving up to 450 people per day and backed by Northern Trust, Whitechapel provides breakfast each weekday morning, plus basic needs like shelter and clothing. They also run a series of programs such as addiction recovery, life-skills workshops and job-skills training, helping individuals regain their independence and reconnect with those around them.

Our Big Kitchen (OBK)

Founded in 2005, OBK is a community-run, non-denominational, industrial kitchen built through the generosity of donors. The kitchen is a hub from which volunteers' shop, prepare meals, pack and deliver food to people in need. Supported by Northern Trust, last year OBK made 250,000 meals that were distributed to disadvantaged Australians of all ages and in all situations, from the aged to the working poor to the homeless.

Scholars of Sustenance (SOS PH)

SOS PH is tackling both the hunger and the food waste crisis by delivering good-quality surplus food to those who need it most, diverting it from landfills. Since 2022, SOS PH has rescued over 1.7 million kgs of food, fed over 7.4 million people and reduced over 4.4 million kgs of carbon dioxide emissions. Northern Trust funding was amplified by more than 80 volunteers who helped prepare and deliver 2,000 meals across the Santa Ana, Manila community.
