What brought you to Northern Trust? Briefly describe your career path.

Prior to Northern Trust I worked with large, scaled banks with established framework, while there was stability however, I had to operate within defined boundaries. Here I get to work across all domains, collaborate with teams, and resources are easily accessible. Here challenges are plenty, but they bring exciting opportunities to innovate and learn.

How do you keep your skills fresh?

Staying updated is no longer a choice for me since I work in Cybersecurity, which is an ever evolving and highly competitive field. I utilize resources like news, blogs, and learning platforms. In particular, our internal learning platform (Northern Trust University) and networking with fellow professionals all help me to stay aware of new developments and focus on continuous learning.

Do you have any other career tips you would give to candidates interested in working for Northern Trust? Or general tips for career success?

For beginners: I would say begin small, start learning fundamentals before diving into specialization. Hands on experience definitely helps. Network with professionals, take certifications and stay updated and most importantly don’t fear failure, every challenge is an opportunity.

General tips for career success: Take charge of your own career. Your managers, mentors, and peers are here to guide and support you, but the real driver is you. Have clear goals to keep you focused on what you want to achieve and regularly monitor and measure your progress. Don’t wait for permission to grow. Create your path, build your network, keep learning, and stay intentional. That’s when real progress happens.
