Gary Poth

As President of Ohio, Gary is responsible for leading Northern Trust’s business across the state including supporting its high-performing teams dedicated to delivering holistic financial solutions to affluent individuals, multigenerational families, and privately held businesses. With over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, Gary brings a unique blend of strategic vision and operational expertise to Northern Trust.

Before joining Northern Trust, Gary created and led the family office business at KeyBank, Key Family Wealth, where he built and scaled a national multi-family office practice serving business owners and ultra-high-net-worth clients. He also held the role of National Director of Strategy and Sales at Key Private Bank, shaping the firm’s strategic direction and sales initiatives. Gary served as the Chief Financial Officer for National City’s Private Client Group and Allegiant Group, and in earlier roles, worked for JPMorgan Private Bank and Ernst & Young.

Gary serves as the Chair of the Finance Committee and Trustee at the Holden Forests & Gardens and is an active Board Member with Building Hope in the City.

A former Naval submarine officer, Gary earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering magna cum laude from the University of Akron and his MBA summa cum laude from the University of Texas.
