Audit Services: Fun and interesting work that keeps me on my toes

Ensuring our controls are working effectively to mitigate against potential risks

Our commitment to our teams and people are rooted in a culture of care that spans eight countries and ten audit teams, driving success for internal business stakeholders and our people alike.

At Northern Trust, we believe that effective auditing is rooted in a deep understanding of the business it serves. Our teams are strategically designed to align with their respective business unit, corporate group or regional area of focus. In this way our auditors’ specialized qualifications and expertise position them to better assess risk and controls of their aligned business unit, corporate group or regional area. Rather than conducting audits themselves, our Professional Practice Group (PPG) and Data Analytics teams provide essential support that strengthens our auditing capabilities.
The Asset and Wealth Management (AM/WM) Global Audit Team collaborates with Northern Trust's Wealth and Asset Management business units, as well as with associated legal entities.
Northern Trust’s Asset Servicing (AS) business represents a sizeable portion of the Corporations activity.
The Chief Risk Office Global Audit Team is dedicated to providing assurance to the global Risk Management and Compliance corporate function and the Global Regulatory Affairs Office (GRAO).
The Data, Digital and Enterprise Change (DDEC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Financial Crimes Global Audit Teams undertake both enterprise-wide and local/jurisdictionally focused audits.
The Finance and HR Global Audit Team is responsible for evaluating controls supporting Finance, Financial Risk Management, HR, and related corporate functions.
The Technology Global Audit Team is responsible for assessing the information technology and cybersecurity controls environments across the enterprise.
The Professional Practice Group (PPG) is a global team that primarily supports audit operations, the Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (QAIP), Audit process change, and regulatory validation.
Data analytics (DA) represents the art of analyzing raw data to form conclusions from this. The DA team brings dual audit and data analytics experience and expertise, serving as a strategic partner to align audit needs to innovative solutions.
Our core principles — service, expertise and integrity — have remained constant for more than 135 years, guiding Northern Trust's evolution from a new bank in the growing Chicago of 1889 to a multi-faceted global financial services provider.
