Describe your role at Northern Trust.
As a Senior Associate Wealth Strategist in Wealth Management, I work to generate new business for the firm. This includes compiling research on prospective clients, assembling client presentations, and managing the client relationship. I love getting to connect with clients and supporting their financial goals. It is a privilege, and I feel like I am being invited into the family.
Take us through how you ended up at Northern? What brought you here?
I previously worked at Goldman Sachs for four years and was recommended by a recruiter to apply to this incredible opportunity at Northern Trust. Upon examining potential roles, I was excited to learn that this job would allow me to work with the Ultra-High Net Worth Team and to build meaningful relationships with our clients.
I work with an incredible team of other Associate Wealth Strategists and am always learning from my colleagues.
What are you most proud of in your career at Northern Trust so far?
I would say that I am most proud of being certified in Financial Essentials. This allows me to present sessions to our clients on a variety of subjects including investing, saving, credit, and behavioral finance.
I am appreciative of the ways that Northern Trust has allowed me to build upon my credentials to better serve our clients.
What’s a typical “day-in-the-life” at Northern Trust look like for you?
Each day looks different but ultimately our objective is to support our clients on their financial journey.
I support all aspects of the client relationship and throughout the week, I help to generate new business by conducting research on prospects to better understand their background and financial goals, developing client presentations, and assisting with the management of client accounts.
I also enjoy sending our clients thoughtful gifts and cards during their special milestones, and it is always a pleasure seeing how happy they are to receive them.
I believe this is one of the many ways Northern Trust stands out - we are always thinking of these small yet meaningful ways to support our clients.
When did you realize that Northern Trust was a good fit for your career?
I work with some of the most intelligent and hardworking people. I love that whenever I need support or advice, there is always a partner who is willing to take the time to help me. I admire that we have a collaborative and supportive atmosphere here.
What technology/technologies have you been excited to work with here at Northern Trust?
I am a big fan of IJNT, ‘I Join Northern Trust’, and have found the seamless process of onboarding clients and funding their accounts incredibly useful. It is convenient for me to upload and view the account opening and funding process in one case.
What has surprised you most about life at Northern Trust so far?
I appreciate how family oriented our firm is. We are a firm that not only helps families but we also understand them on a personal level and share similar values. I love hearing about my colleagues’ families, what they do on the weekends, and meeting their children at work on "Bring Your Kid to Work Day." I have not seen that atmosphere at other firms, and it shows how special Northern Trust is.
How do you create a balance between work and home?
I feel so grateful to live in a city as beautiful and vibrant as Chicago. I wake up and appreciate seeing Lake Michigan, riding my bike along the lake, and taking evening walks near the river. I love watching films at Music Box Theater, and grabbing Garrett’s Popcorn for visiting family and friends. My friends and I also enjoy going to the Art Institute and try to go at least once a week to see new exhibits.
What would you say to someone considering a career at Northern Trust?
I would advise any newcomer to set up coffee chats to learn more about different parts of the business, and to not be afraid of getting feedback on projects. I would also highly recommend them signing up for courses, such as Financial Essentials training and Trust School, to improve their knowledge to better serve our clients.

Where do you volunteer your time? - I am incredibly passionate about the Posse Foundation which is a scholarship organization that believes in sending groups of students to college with a built-in support network. I was able to build incredible relationships with people from diverse backgrounds and now get to see them blossom throughout their college and post-college lives. Being able to attend UVA opened up so many opportunities for me, and I hope to help other young people to have the same opportunity.

Comfort food - My ultimate comfort food is gumbo. My grandma would always make it for me whenever I visited my grandparents in New Orleans. They make it the traditional way with spicy Cajun sausage, crab, and okra. My grandma taught my mom the recipe after we moved to Houston so that she could continue making me my favorite meal.
If you could have dinner with any person alive today, who would it be? - I would love to have dinner with Sofia Coppola, my favorite film director. I have watched all of her films and find her to be one of the most exciting and interesting directors of our generation. I am a passionate film lover and just came back from the Cannes Film Festival, where her father, Francis Ford Coppola, premiered his film.
