Sports and Social

The newly reformed London Sports and Social committee was assembled to enhance our employee experience and to support our teams in collaborating and connecting across all of our business units.

"We have a varied calendar of sports and social events planned for the year ahead in London. The events present an opportunity for our employees to connect with people from across the organisation and we're so pleased to see everyone taking part and enjoying the events. Book Club

The 'One Northern Book Club' sees employees from across the London office meet every six weeks to discuss fiction and non-fiction books. The launch meeting was held on 25 February in our cafeteria with the club boasting members of over 50 already.

Handball

In March, our teams in London hosted their first ever Handball Tournament with the event selling out with 40 employees signing up to take part.

Padel

'Pizza and Padel' events in Canary Wharf were a tremendous success with event bookings selling out in minutes.

Supporting Veterans Hiring

We employ a number of Veterans in the UK and abroad, as we believe that those that have served have an abundance of transferable skills such as: - Being task oriented - Having a high standard of integrity - Being coachable - Having a ‘learning mindset’ - Being highly adaptable to change - Collaborative

 

We proudly support those who serve through our Armed Forces Covenant (since 2017) and we continue to advocate for Veteran hiring through our external partnerships with the Career Transition Partnership, Regular Forces Employment Association, Ministry of Defence and the Diversity Project.

 

Additionally, our internal employee resource group, MAARC (Military Appreciation and Assistance Resource Council) facilitates opportunities to learn more about the armed forces and to understand the strengths those with military experience bring to our organisation, whilst functioning as a conduit for Northern Trust to attract, assist, develop and retain retired military personnel.
