Director of Executive Services & Tax Counsel

Devin leads Northern Trust’s strategic direction for advising executives on equity-linked compensation, income tax planning, wealth transfer and philanthropy. With over a decade of legal experience focused on tax matters, she has advised corporations on restructuring and entity rationalization, defended businesses in IRS tax controversies, and counseled individuals and alternative funds on foreign bank account reporting obligations.

Most recently, Devin served as Tax Counsel & Senior Wealth Planner at Northern Trust, developing widely published thought leadership to address tax and wealth transfer issues that impact ultra-high net worth families.

Prior to joining Northern Trust in 2018, Devin served as Senior Tax Manager at GE Capital, Senior Associate of Tax Controversy at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Tax and Corporate Law Attorney at Lathrop & Gage LP.

Devin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Florida State University, Juris Doctor from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Law, and Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.) from University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. She is a member of the Missouri Bar, Kansas Bar and the U.S. Tax Court.

She currently serves as a Commissioner of The Smithsonian Institute National Portrait Gallery and on the Advisory Council of Dress for Success. In the past she served on the YWCA of Chicago Future Leaders Council, the Luminarts Cultural Foundation Advisory Board, the University of Missouri-Kansas City Athletic Foundation, and the Economic Development Council of Kansas City.
