Northern Trust Corporation Announces 2026 Stress Capital Buffer and 10 percent Dividend Increase

CHICAGO – Northern Trust Corporation today commented on the results of the Federal Reserve’s 2026 Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR).

“The Federal Reserve’s annual CCAR stress tests confirmed the strength of our capital position and business model,” Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael O’Grady said. “These results reinforce our capital deployment priorities of investing in our franchise and returning capital to shareholders over time — reflecting our continued commitment to delivering long-term value for shareholders.”

On February 4, 2026, the Federal Reserve provided notice that Northern Trust will remain subject to its 2025 stress capital buffer (SCB) of 2.5 percent, which is the minimum SCB requirement under the applicable regulation. The 2025 SCB will remain effective until September 30, 2027, and will equate to a minimum common equity tier 1 (CET1) ratio of 7 percent.

Northern Trust evaluates its planned capital actions, inclusive of its quarterly cash dividend on common stock, at each quarterly board of directors’ meeting. At the July 2026 meeting, Northern Trust will propose an increase of $0.08/share to its quarterly cash dividend on common stock, subject to approval by its board of directors.

Northern Trust will continue to take an opportunistic, considerate approach to common stock repurchases.
