Over previous periods, Northern Trust Asset Management ranked 42 out of 47 fund families over one year, 31 out of 42 fund families over five years and 40 out of 42 fund families over ten years.
How Barron’s Ranks the Fund Families
To be included in the ranking, firms must have offered at least three actively managed mutual funds or active exchange-traded funds in Lipper’s general U.S. stock category, one in world equity, one mixed-asset, at least two taxable bond funds and one national tax-exempt bond fund. All funds on the list must have a track record of at least one year. Each fund’s performance is measured against all of the other funds in its LSEG Lipper category, with a percentile ranking of 100 being the highest and one the lowest. This result is then weighted by asset size, relative to the fund family’s other assets in its general classification. Read more for additional information about Barron’s ranking methodology.
